Another session of the State legislature has convened, and TORCH is there, ensuring that your business is understood and your concerns are heard! This session brings us opportunity, as well as threats. We must be prepared to push forward the needs of TORCH and steadfastly defend against unwarranted intrusion to our businesses. So far, we see that there are a number of new members in both Chambers. TORCH is has been meeting with the new members and pressing our initiatives forward with them.
Already, the House has put forward their budget plan. It includes a whopping 17 percent in K-12 public education spending, but a 3.2 percent decrease in Health and Human Services, which includes a $1.4 Billion reduction in spending for Medicaid. As you can see, there is a lot of work to be done and many issues to be addressed, and you can be sure that TORCH is there for you.
